Reflection: “…By my spirit.”

By Rev Majaha Nhliziyo

He said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
Zechariah 4:6 NRSV

The world conditions us to take matters into our own hands whenever the chips are down or in crisis moments.

This may be justifiable in certain times. But the point of Zechariah is that it is by the Spirit of the Lord that things should be done.

Doing things by the Spirit of the Lord is an acknowledgement of the Divine Hand over all creation.

The Lord has our future and everything in His gracious Hand. We should therefore seek to be aligned to the way of the Lord.

It is not by human power, influence or wisdom but by the spirit of the Lord that we should operate in all circumstances.

Prayer 🛐: Help us, O Lord, even in the midst of floods of technologies and social pressures to conform, to do everything by the power and grace of your Spirit. Amen.
